ABC7 Chicago News & Weather App Reviews

Ever since the fonts changed, this app crashes every single time its opened. You have to lunch it twice to get it to work. All my friends are having the same issue as it came up in conversation. Please fix! UPDATE 6/1: It has now been over 2 months since this app continues to crash with everything you do. Youd think someone at ABC 7 would fix it. How about instead sending me push alerts for the most ridiculous things to get me to watch your news, get someone to fix your app. Ive already stopped using it and switched to NBC 5. At least theirs works. It might be like their television sign thats outside the studio. It was burnt out for almost a year before they fixed it. Just what tourists want to see on State St.

I love this app on ios 7 but on ios 8 is trash you have to fix

Fonts and UI are overinflated.

Whoever sends out the push notifications for this app needs to take a very large chill pill. Way too many, too often, and sometimes the same ones over and over (particularly storm warnings).

Local news section wont open. Clunky looking GUI.

Please add a setting that allows users to customize which alerts they receive. This evening I have been bombarded by at least 20 alerts about thunderstorm warnings for counties in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Indiana... Being that I live 75 miles southwest of Chicago, Im pretty sure Im not in harms way!

This app is terrible, filled with pop up ads and also automatically tries to download other apps. Not to mention the news stories are often incomplete and poorly written. Find another app to use.

Im disappointed that this app seems to not carry much world news. Its great for murders, expensive restaurant reviews or sensational stories. Items that many people would say "interesting!"or "ew!" are most common. My word for it is "meh". Im saddened that our great city cant have a decent digital news station.

To many pop ups!!!!!!!!

Started getting pop-up message boxes (blue background) offering to install something or do something- the messages were very vague. I do not recall what they were, I am sorry to say. There was NO "Cancel" or "No" button option, only "Accept" or "Yes". It was not possible to get rid of them or go back either; I had to quit the app each time. After three of these appeared in one day, I uninstalled the app. Was I looking at a trojan or something? Who knows, especially now that App store integrity has been breached, which is more reason to never, ever click on pop-ups offering no option but "yes" anyway. As for ABCs news, as presented through this app, the writing was often terrible, full of half-sentences with words missing or in a weird order. Contradictory statements were common. All the proofreaders seem to be on a permanent break.

Recently this app went from a half decent Chicago news app to a terrible one. Why would a big news company let their app have one choice pop ups on it and not fix it immediately. No idea if its malware or just bad advertisement pop ups. Either way this is my goodbye. Ive dealt with having to force close the app and open it again 3 times just to finish a story for the last time!

I am having the same issues with a popup as the last two reviewers. There is no way to get rid of it. It seems that the security of this app has been compromised. I deleted it and then reinstalled it. No joy. I have deleted this app permanently. I will now get my news from another Chicago TV station’s app. Too bad. It was good while it lasted.

Since the updated it, the app is malware, freezing the news to redirect you to download gaming apps, no way to disable this

Used to be a great app, now not so much. Too many pop ups, and cannot get out of them. Have reported it to abc7chicago, but so far to no avail. Have now removed the app.

This used to be my preferred local news app but how can a major news outlet go nearly two months with no release to fix what so many are experiencing which is an undesired pop-up that even grand parents would suspect. I can no longer read more than two stories then pop-up appears with no option to get away from it. The app has to be idle for a span of time to shake it but this issue happens each use. So I have to say goodbye and discourage others from using. Hope ABC figures it out someday but it is too late for many users.

Used to be the best place to get current news. First I was sent to the App Store for Draft Kings when I was trying to read an article...then I received pop-ups that you had to quit the app to close. Way too much hassle :(

What happened, ABC? This was a good app that I used daily, but it was bombarded by spam pop ups, ads and stories you couldnt read all the way. And no fix yet? I dont understand. Oh, well I had to delete it. Hope they start listening and fix it.

Not sure why, but in the middle of a story or the weather or traffic reports, the live stream cuts away to the sports scores or to a car commercial. Isnt there someone at the studio that can hold off pushing the button to cut to a commercial until the news report ends? Its very frustrating to not hear the weather report or traffic report when trying to get ready for work. I love to stream so I dont wake someone up, but if I wanted to miss out on the actual news coverage, I would just listen to music. If someone wants the sports scores scrolling, then can go to ESPN or another app.

For as long as I had this app I never seen an ad until today.. To make matters worse the ad plays great but the story does not.. It was good while it lasted.. Deleted

App will not fully download and cannot be deleted. App is frozen in download process and is not functioning. App is stuck and cannot be deleted. Very frustrating struggling with app.
